How to Lead Yourself to Lead Others “It is our obligation as women and men to proceed as though the bounds of our abilities don't exist.” ~ Pierre Teilhard De Chardin Successful leaders know that to effectively lead others you have to first know the way to lead yourself. Living your life with humility, maturity, self-consciousness and being open to studying and positive change helps you lead your personal life and lead your organization. Have you heard the old adage, “Knowledge is power?” No matter the place you're in your profession you need to continue to learn. It doesn’t matter when you’re beginning out on the bottom of the ladder or should you’ve planted your flag on the highest-most rung, take the time to read, attend an industry convention, or participate in a roundtable discussion. Learning just isn't enough. Once you could have the data, share it with those whom you lead. Gain belief and respect and enhance your govt presence as a leader. Be a job mannequin to those under you, who look as much as you in admiration for steerage and advice. Even mentors have mentors. You are never too old to study from another person. Find an individual whom you respect. Get in contact with them and mutually share your time, expertise and knowledge. Be open to feedback. Don’t close yourself off to these under you. Be approachable and ask for suggestions. Don’t just hear when people speak; actively take heed to what these beneath you might be saying. Lead with respect. Treat others with respect and set a excessive bar for others to observe. Dress professionally, determine your core values, and lead by instance. Learn how one can proactively create a tradition of learning inside your group, where knowledge and coaching is valued along with performance. Only when you learn to lead your self are you able to lead others.
